El Assir is just a name. Shit by any other name could still destroy a country!

I used to post on a political forum…for years all I’d do is have political debates until my energy slowly started to dwindle. After all, it was the same fight, the same argument.

And I took a decision… I’ll remain active, but for education, social causes, attacking the problem from within its components, rather than a collision with the corrupt political system. And I became equally guilty. I have shied away from active political work, from going down to the street because of my frustration. I know so many are in my shoes.

But when I see educated individuals, people within my own milieu, taking sides and bashing one another in support of someone else, I can’t keep quiet. How can I when a close friend considers it right to criminalize one side while totally ignoring another?

El Assir is just a name. Shit by any other name could still destroy a country!

I love this video by Chi N N. They hit the nail right on it’s rusty disgusting head.

To the “educated” Lebanese, take 30 minutes out of your day and make sure you watch this! You owe your country that much. You owe your children some heroes to take them into the future. God knows you’ve destroyed so much in their lives already. Try to stop blaming one side and show them the bigger picture!

although i have never intervened with politics in my life i was intrigued in reading what you had to say(or write), and you’re right about everything you’ve said doctor, except that your title is misleading, not by el assir being a piece of shit, but by saying “country”,lebanon is far from being a country, or at least a decent one,a county is a bunch of citizens under the order of a nation and a nation under the order of god, a jungle is a bunch of animals fighting for survival, preys, predators and survival of the fittest, and lebanon has been stuck in between for so long it doesnt even know what it is anymore neither do the people.
el assir should have been captured or killed by now.around 16 soldiers died and for what? a couple of years from now they will be forgotten and the man(not really a “man” but lets just call him that) behind all this is free hidden somewhere eating, drinking and sleeping just like any animal in its habitat, his hands my be drenched in blood but his conscious is as clear as a summer’s sky and that is not natural, not only is he an overseer of a fools errand but he also is a virus, see fighting for a cause with a noble purpose makes you a knight, fighting for a cause with no purpose makes you an idiot and to fight for no cause with no purpose makes you a virus, and that is what el assir is, a pain in the ass that should have been rid of a long time ago but wasnt and the army was left to pay for our mistakes!
two things i could wish for at the time being are:1. the souls of the fallen soldiers to be guided into heaven and 2.for us to learn from our mistakes,i may have my doubts about heaven but it is easier to believe in heaven than believe in this country…

Thanks for writing this Khalil, and frankly, you’re right! I think these soldiers will be forgotten in months, If not weeks. It has happened before. We’ll find something else to occupy our public consciousness. Sadly.

Believe me I’ve been through this sooooo many times. Which is why I haven’t written anything political in a long time. I just couldn’t keep quiet today.
