RISING…because my sister can’t.

This is a tough post. I will probably never be able to write everything I have to say about her. It’s too personal. But had my older sister been born in a different place, at a different time, to a different father, she might have made it.

But she didn’t. she was a victim of a society which didn’t understand mental illness, and a father who simply didn’t want to hold such responsibility. She didn’t live to tell the tale, but I can. And my mom had to make a choice. She couldn’t save both of her daughters, and she ended up saving me. She died at the age of 14, alone.

I need to tell her story more often. I owe her that much.

We’re rising all over the world today, because our women deserve better, because my sister deserves better. Because Geogeo deserves better.

Join us. Tell your story.

Love how simply you made your point. A very important point. Thank you.
